Audrey Fairchild Ph.D.

“When You Thought I Wasn't Looking"
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang up my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I knew that little things are special things.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I LOOKED....and wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking. ”

Dr. Fairchild and Dr. Jay Giedd (NIMH) at the Brain Conference, February 2008

Dr. Fairchild received her Ph.D. in 2001 and her coaching license from the Coach-Parenting Institute (CPI) in 2007.  She has been working therapeutically with obsessive-compulsive adults (hoarding, eating disorders, hypo-manic spectrum disorder) since 2001.   Since that time, she has been coaching and tutoring young people throughout the Bay Area.  She has distilled the learning from dozens of parenting workshops and countless parenting books and tapes into very concrete steps that will bring more harmony into the relationship with your child.  After years of study, Dr. Fairchild also became licensed as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in 2003, and an NLP Practioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming technique) in 2005.   Having several modalities to offer clients was important to Dr. Fairchild, in serving the wide needs of parents today.

In addition, Dr. Fairchild is a full time, nationally credentialed middle school teacher, with a Master's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. She has experienced thousands of middle school teens and preteens over the last decade, and sees the issues that most families struggle with in raising a teen:  rebellion, moodiness, forging new sides to their personalities, friendship issues, transitions in school, juggling priorities, drugs, self absorption, pushing against their families, emotional and hormonal swings.   As a certified parent coach and mother of twin college students, Dr. Fairchild lends  soothing and helpful guidance for negotiating with your teen during the most trying years of parenthood.
